How to Deploy a Netreo Virtual Appliance Using Scale HC3

Once you’ve received your email containing your pin, evaluation license and deployment link, you’re ready to deploy Netreo into your virtual environment.

If you are using the HC3 virtualization platform, Netreo is supplied as a preconfigured zip file.

Scale HC3 can only import virtual machines that are already in the HC3 format. So, some additional work will be required before deploying Netreo.

  1. Create and/or specify an SMB share that the HC3 cluster has read/write permissions to access.
  2. Download the Netreo_VA-scale.zip file to the SMB share above.
  3. Unzip the contents of the downloaded file in place. (You can now delete the zip file if you like.)

Now that the necessary Netreo files are accessible to HC3, you can import the Netreo virtual machine.

In the HC3 web interface:

  1. Click the Import VM icon.
  2. In the dialog that appears:
    1. Enter a name for the new virtual machine. “Netreo_VA” is suggested (without quotes, of course).
    2. Enter the required values and credentials to access the SMB share from above.
    3. Click Import.
  3. When the virtual machine is finished importing:
    1. Boot the new guest by clicking the Power icon of your Netreo VM instance.
    2. The boot process should take roughly 1 – 2 minutes.

If you would like to change the IP address of the Netreo VM before running the setup wizard, see How to Change the Default IP Address of Netreo Through the VM Console.

Otherwise, start the VM and run the Netreo setup wizard.
