Check for Cisco Module Alarms Check

Object Type: Service Check

Service Check Category: System Checks

Passive: No

DescriptionThis service check monitors modules status on Cisco devices by querying the operating status of the various modules. Non-OK states in a module will cause the check to go CRITICAL. Only modules that respond with an operating status code will be checked. (Which modules respond can vary greatly depending on platform, module type and licensing on the host device). Modules that are “administratively” down will also not be checked.

Additionally, power and fan status will be checked if they are installed and respond with a status code.

This check is SNMP-based using OIDs from CiscoEntityFRUControlMIB (.

The following statuses are checked:

Power Status
Checks the operational status of the FRU power module.

Power Admin
Checks the administratively desired FRU power state. Logic is used here to determine if the FRU power module should be off or not.

Fan Status
Checks the operational state of the fan or fan tray.

Module Status
Checks the module’s operational state. Module and status are included in OmniCenter alert notifications.

(Required) This field specifies a name for this check. The name entered must be unique among service check names on the host it is added to (the name may used again only on a different host). It is used to identify this specific check from among other service checks added to the same host.
