When using WMI, do I have to give administrator privileges to the user account?

Not strictly speaking. Although it’s highly recommended when monitoring Windows servers to use a service account for the purposes of WMI management.

While a Domain Administrator account is the easiest to use, it is possible to use a non-administrator user account by following the steps on our page How to Create a Non-Administrator-Based Service Account in Windows.
